Originally from Wales, I moved to the beautiful New Forest in 2003 where I now live with my family. Having lived in London for many years I really appreciate how lucky we are to live in such an unspoilt area and never take it for granted. I walk my border collie in the forest every day and visit the sea at least once a week which keeps life in perspective and keeps me grounded. I have been practising yoga for many years and enjoy getting out on my mountain bike with my teenage son and husband at the weekends.
I have always been fascinated by all things complementary and holistic – homeopathy, aromatherapy, flower remedies, acupuncture, massage, crystals, colour therapy… you name it! I am a strong believer in taking a holistic approach to health and life in general and, while medicine has its place, wherever possible I try to take the natural route.
They say that reiki finds you and, in my case, this is true. I was at a yoga retreat on the Isle of Wight five years ago when I experienced my first reiki session. I was hooked! Cue a mid-life ‘adventure’ and my decision to leave the world of wine and spirits which I had worked in for nearly 30 years to train to be a reiki practitioner. I took reiki levels 1 and 2 in 2015 and in September 2019 completed the Reiki Master Practitioner level with Richard Ellis, a well-respected and inspirational Reiki Master who has published various books on Reiki. www.practical-reiki.com
I was driven by my desire to do something more ‘worthwhile’ with my life and to give something back. We live in an ever-changing world, with so many unsettling and worrying developments. More and more people are turning to complementary and holistic treatments as they search for calm and relaxation in these turbulent times.
