7 simple steps to live for today

To stay sane and grounded never has it been more important to just LIVE FOR TODAY – here are Shelley’s 7 simple steps to do just that… Get into the habit of taking these steps every single day and you have unlocked the first key to living mindfully

- Give every task you do your full attention – even simple things like the soap bubbles and warmth of water when washing your hands.
- Take a moment in your day to stop and notice how you feel. Maybe you are stuck in traffic and feel angry, maybe you are anxious due to a lack of time, maybe you are happy just to sit in the sunshine… acknowledge your emotion.
- Repeat a mantra often throughout your day. This can be a word or phrase that inspires you or is your goal for the day, something to motivate you. It can sound quite out there doing this, but it is a simple way to bring you back to the now and push out the mind chatter. Repeat the mantra in your mind or, preferably, out loud – and make sure you make it positive!
- Notice your breathing. Make it strong, full-body breathing.
- Take some exercise. Exercise releases endorphins, our happy hormones.
- Take a break. Get outside in the fresh air, feel the grass under your feet.
- Write your to do list. Accept that some things may not get done straightaway. And don’t forget to list some dreams, aims and aspirations
